SOUTH WEST FORESTS
Amazing bushwalking trails…

The South West Forest region is known for its stands of tall trees - Karri, Jarrah and Marri Trees. There are also beautiful waterfalls, rivers, lakes, woodlands and pretty towns to explore. A good place to stay is Manjimup in the centre of the region which is a timber town with several attractions. Visit the excellent Manjimup Timber Park to see timber displays, a lookout tower, museum and historic village. The Diamond Tree Fire Tower is built in a tree and you can climb it if you dare. Other points of interest are the King Jarrah Heritage Trail, The Four Aces and One Tree Bridge. The town of Nannup is known for its arts and craft shops, historical buildings and canoe trips on the Blackwood River.

Pemberton is another forest town with a museum, craft shops and a trout hatchery. You can take a lovely scenic railway journey through the forests which are carpeted with wildflowers in spring. Trout and marron fishing are popular activities in the local river and at the trout farm. Beedelup National Park features Beedelup Falls and the Walk Through Tree. Gloucester National Park is home to the Gloucester Tree which has a lookout 60 metres up. The Great Forest Trees Drive is a beautiful scenic drive through the Shannon National Park where you can stop to see the boardwalks at Snake Gully and Big Tree Grove.
