PURNULULU NP
Interesting rock formations…

Purnululu National Park is home to the Bungle Bungles, the unique rocky mounds with black and orange stripes of black lichen and orange silica. There are a couple of one hour walks from the car park to Echidna Chasm and Cathedral Gorge or a 10 hour walk to the Piccaninny Gorge for seasoned hikers. It is a good idea to visit the Park with a guide to point out the many features such as aboriginal rock art, caves, chasms and rock pools.

It is possible to take a scenic flight over the Bungle Bungles to see all the inaccessible gorges. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended and the area is not suitable for caravans. There are basic camping facilities at Walardi or Kurrajong Camp or stay in the motel units at the Turkey Creek Roadhouse.

Purnululu National Park is located 858km east of Broome.
