DONGARA
Enjoy a seafood lobster lunch!

Dongara and its port, Port Denison, make an excellent all-year-round location for a seaside holiday. The main industry is rock lobster fishing and each year in November the town celebrates with the Dongara Lobster Festival. Pay a visit to the Live Lobster Facility which is open seven days a week in season. The beautiful warm weather and sandy beaches are inviting for tourists looking for a holiday of swimming, surfing, fishing and wind surfing. Grannys beach is best for families, while the other beaches suit the board riders and fishing enthusiasts. The groin and the town jetty are also great spots for fishing.

Get a copy of the Dongara Heritage Trail and look for Priory Lodge, the Royal Steam Roller Flour Mill, Russ Cottage, the Old Police Station and Court House, the Church of St John the Baptist and the gracious houses in Hunts Road. If you visit in spring you will be able to see the wildflowers which carpet the surrounding region with a beautiful display. Port Denison has a large marina and Fisherman's Lookout for panoramic views of the port. Bird lovers can study the migratory birds from the Bird Hide on the boardwalk at the rivermouth. Try a farmstay, a waterfront cottage, holiday unit, motel, backpacker lodge or caravan park.
