DAMPIER PENINSULA
The place for 4WD drawing...

The Dampier Peninsula is a remote area of the Kimberley Coast where a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended as many of the roads are unsealed. About half the land area of the peninsula is Aboriginal land and tourists are asked to respect their culture and privacy. Travelling north from Broome you will come to the township of Willie Creek where you can tour the Willie Creek Pearl Farm. Farther north is the Coulomb Point Nature Reserve which protects bilbies. At Beagle Bay, visit the Sacred Heart Church to see the altar ornately decorated with local pearl shells.

There is accommodation at Middle Lagoon, which is a great spot for fishing, swimming and snorkelling. At Lombadina you can go on a mud-crabbing or fishing trip. Cape Leveque is at the top end of the Peninsula and there is a resort there offering camping facilities and accommodation in units. The area has some beautiful secluded beaches and great views from the lighthouse.

Locations
The Dampier Peninsula lies to the north of Broome.

Activities
The Dampier Peninsula is great for remote beaches, fishing, swimming, snorkelling, mud-crabbing, coastal scenery and the pearl farm.
