Australia's pearl havesting capital…


The isolated town of Broome used to be a thriving pearling town. To learn about the history of the town, go to the Broome Historical Museum. There is also a heritage trail you can follow to see all the historical buildings. The famous Cable Beach is at Broome and it has a resort, a white sandy beach for swimming and 4WD access. Gantheaume Point is at the end of Cable Beach and here you might be able to see the dinosaur footprints set within the cliffs. Bird watchers will be interested in the Broome Bird Observatory near Roebuck Bay. They have made observatory trails around the area so that you can look for water birds and birds of prey.

Broome Crocodile Park is a research station open to the public where you can see and learn about crocodiles. Nearby is the Pearl Coast Zoo which features a modern zoo layout specialising in animals of the Kimberley region. Have a night out at Sun Pictures which is a unique open air cinema in Carnarvon Street. There are a number of tours on offer in Broome to showcase the attractions of the town and farther out. Accommodation is offered in the local resorts, motels, hotels, guesthouses, apartments and caravan parks.
