AUGUSTA
A destination for whale watching…

Augusta is a great location for a seaside family holiday. Whale watching is the most popular activity in the migration season from June to December. You can join a cruise from Augusta or Cape Leeuwin and go out to see humpback whales, southern right whales, bottlenose dolphins and fur seals. Fishing charters are also offered. If you visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse you might be lucky enough to spot whales from the top of the lighthouse. In any event, the views from the top are spectacular.

Augusta Historical Museum has excellent displays on the history of the area. Jewel Cave, near Augusta, is a limestone cave with some beautiful features. The Blackwood River is great for fishing, water skiing and boating, or you can take a ferry ride up the river. The Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park stretches along the coast and has beautiful unspoilt beaches and coastal features. Choose your holiday accommodation from the selection of resorts, motels, cottages, apartments, caravan parks or camping grounds.
