TWELVE APOSTLES
Amazing rock formations and ocean views

A very popular Victorian tourist attraction is the Twelve Apostles. This spectacular natural feature was formed by constant erosion of the coastline limestone cliffs. Eventually the rock stacks up to 45 metres tall were isolated from the mainland. They are most impressive at sunrise and sunset as they change colour and are much photographed by the many tourists who come to see them each year. A few of them have collapsed in recent years but new ones are likely to form over time.

There are boardwalks, tracks, and viewing areas constructed by Parks Victoria, to ensure you get spectacular views of them. A paved walking track goes from the car park and toilet block under the Great Ocean Road to the various viewing platforms. Access to the beach itself is via staircases at Gibson Steps and Loch Ard Gorge. Tourists can join an organised tour to see the Twelve Apostles or you can drive yourself. Stay in the nearby townships along the Great Ocean Road, such as Port Campbell and Apollo Bay.
