Swan Hill is a popular destination for a country holiday. The town is rich in colonial history, as evidenced by the impressive attraction, Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. It is an open-air historical museum featuring a recreation of a 19th century river port town covering 4 ha. A Murray River cruise is a must for visitors to Swan Hill and you can choose from the PS Pyap (1896) or M.V. Kookaburra. The town boasts a Giant Murray Cod, indicating the popularity of fishing for them in the Murray and Little Murray. It is possible to hire a houseboat and spend your holiday meandering from place to place.

The Hilltop Resort Fauna Park is a lovely place for a day out with the children as is the Pheasant Farm. View the local artworks at Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery as well as visiting Dowling House Art-and-Craft Centre. Tyntynder Homestead, 17 km north of the town, is open Wed to Sun and provides guided tours by the local aboriginal community. Travel 3 km back towards town to find Buller's Winery which has cellar door sales.

Lake Boga lies 17 km south of town and is a beautiful location for picnicking, water skiing, fishing and boating. Enjoy a visit to Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum while in the area. Other spots for water skiing are Lake Kangaroo and Lake Charm. Swan Hill offers accommodation in a good selection of motels, hotels, country resorts, holiday apartments and caravan parks.
