MILDURA
A farming region on the Murray River

Mildura is in the 'Sunraysia' region of the state, an important fruit-growing area. Many types of cruises are offered in the paddlesteamers on the Murray - winery cruises, night cruises, short trips or 3-5 day trips with accommodation. Boats and canoes may also be hired to do your own exploring on the river. To soak up some of the local history, follow the the Chaffey Trail, visit the Mildura Arts Centre and Rio Vista Museum, Mildura Pioneer Cottage and the Old Mildura Homestead. Dolls on the Avenue is a doll museum with a gift shop.

Woodsie's Gem Shop is a jewellery manufacturing complex where you can see demonstrations of gem cutting and jewellery making. Kremor's Model Aircrafts has over 500 models to inspect. Hot air balloon trips are available to see the region from the air. The Hattah-Kulkyne National Park has freshwater lakes popular for fishing and Mungo National Park has mysterious sandhills. Backpackers and others will be interested in the fruit picking, mostly from January to March. Accommodation is offered in a plentiful supply of motels, holiday apartments, cottages and caravan parks.
