Take a drive along the Bataluk Cultural Trail in East Gippsland and visit the sites of aboriginal significance. Journey along the Great Alpine Road and be amazed at the splendour of the mountains and valleys. The Croajingolong Wilderness area in the east is a recognised UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve featuring remote beaches, tall forests, heathland, rainforest, estuaries and granite peaks. The charming town of Mallacoota is situated within the Park.
Discover Snowy River Country and visit the Buchan caves and Raymond Falls, where you often see lyrebirds and kingfishers. Ninety Mile Beach has endless unbroken sands, excellent fishing, surf beaches and many small holiday resorts dotted along the coastline. The Gippsland Lakes and Rivers are popular with fishing and boating enthusiasts. Stay at Lakes Entrance and enjoy exploring the lakes by boat or going for scenic drives and walks around the region.
Sale is home to the Gippsland Art Gallery, Wellington Fine Art and Craft, a historical museum and a wildlife refuge. It is the starting point for the Wildlife Coast Nature Trail which you can follow from Sale to Phillip Island. Bairnsdale has an interesting aboriginal cultural heritage, a museum, a famous church and lovely Mitchell River National Park nearby. Scattered over the region are many wineries and vineyards open for cellar door sales and wine tastings. There are a variety of accommodation choices offered throughout the region, from camping and caravan parks to luxury resorts.

The Gippsland Region stretches from the eastern edge of Melbourne to the Lakes in eastern Victoria and includes Wilsons Promontory in the south.
