The coastal town of Ulverstone is popular with summer holidaymakers who like to camp. It is at the mouth of the Leven River. Ulverstone has an interesting Local History Museum, a lookout - Braddons Lookout - offering excellent views and Riverside Anzac Park for family picnics. For those interested in historic buildings, look for Furners Hotel, the ANZ Bank, Westella and the Ocean View Guest House.

The Gunns Plains Caves are 23 km from Ulverstone and offer cave tours through the limestone chambers. While in the area visit Leven Canyon for spectacular views. Also visit the nearby town of Penguin and join a fairy penguin tour. The local craft markets are held on alternate Sundays. Holiday accommodation in Ulverstone is offered in motels, apartments, bed and breakfasts, caravan parks and the camping ground.
