STRAHAN
See Tasmania's Gordon River

Strahan is the only town on the west coast of Tasmania. It was once a busy port for shipping minerals and timber. An important tourist activity is to take one of the cruises across Macquarie Harbour and up the Gordon River. They will take you to Hells Gate, Sarah Island or the lower reaches of the Gordon River. Also on offer are seaplane tours and jet boat rides. The Water Tower Hill Lookout has excellent views of Macquarie Harbour.

Peoples Park has natural forest and cultivated gardens and a 30 min. walk to Hogarth Falls. Travel over to Ocean Beach to see the huge sand dunes, pristine beaches and spectacular sunsets. Strahan has holiday apartments, motels, cottages, caravan parks and camping grounds from which to choose your accommodation.
