STANLEY
See the biggest 'Nut!'

The fishing port of Stanley is a historic township with many preserved buildings. The landscape is dominated by The Nut, a huge flat-topped volcanic rock which has a chairlift to the top. There is a path to the top for keen walkers. The views from the summit are spectacular. The Stanley Discovery Museum and Geneology Centre has information on the history of the area and the historic buildings. Take a stroll around the town and you will see St James Presbyterian Church, Plough Inn, Laughton House, Van Diemen's Land Store and Lyons Cottage.

There are some lovely cafes and restaurants in the old restored buildings and visitors love to sample the local seafood. Browse through the quaint gift shops, galleries and craft shops, try some beach fishing or just a long beach walk. In contrast with the historic buildings, accommodation is offered in modern luxury units on the waterfront. There is also a caravan park, guesthouse, motels, cottages and apartments.
