PORT ARTHUR
Presenting Tasmania's convict history…

Port Arthur is a significant historic site preserved to remind us of the convict period of Tasmania's history. There are guided tours to show visitors around the buildings, including the Model Prison, the Church, the Government Cottage, the Guard Tower and Military Complex, Tower Cottage, Smith O'Brien's Cottage, the Hospital and the Asylum. Also on offer are ghost tours in the evenings by lantern-light. You can also take a ferry trip over the the Isle of the Dead.

Another attraction is the Bush Mill Steam Railway and Settlement which is a replication of a pioneer timber camp. Travel 6 km south of the historic site and you will find Remarkable Cave and some breathtaking views of the rugged coastline.
