NEW NORFOLK
See historic buildings…

The historic town of New Norfolk got its name from the settlers who came from Norfolk Island. The area has many oast houses from the hop-growing industry and you can visit The Oast House which has been turned into a museum, gift shop and tea room. Here you can learn about the history of hop-growing. The Old Colony Inn is a charming old building now converted to a craft shop and cafe. The Anglican Church of St Matthew is the oldest church in Australia and has beautiful stained glass windows.

The Australian Newsprint Mills are located 3 km downstream of New Norfolk and are open for inspection. The township of Plenty is 11 km upstream and is known for its salmon ponds. The ponds are set in an environment of beautiful gardens and lawns. There is a Museum of Trout Fishing and a kiosk. Try a country retreat or farmstay for your holiday accommodation, or a cottage, motel, inn or caravan park.
