KING ISLAND
Famous for dairy foods!

King Island is famous for its dairy produce - butter, cheese and cream. You can visit King Island Dairies and purchase their special cheeses to take home. There is not public transport on the island but you can book a coach tour or walking tour to see the sights. Divers can join a dive tour to see some of the many shipwrecks in the waters around the island. Visit the Currie Museum to learn about the history of the island. Take a boat trip to Reid Rocks Nature Reserve which has a colony of Australian fur seals and sea elephants.

One of the attractions of the island is the splendid isolation of the beaches and rugged coastline. There are some challenging surfing beaches and many great fishing spots. The four lighthouses at Currie, Naracoopa, Stokes Point and Wickham provide excellent views of the surrounding area. The main places to stay are at Currie and Naracoopa where you will find some restaurants, motels, caravan parks, cottages, holiday apartments and hotels.

Locations
King Island is at the western entrance to Bass Strait.

Activities
