FRANKLIN GORDON NP
Part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area


The Franklin - Gordon Wild Rivers National Park is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It is a beautiful pristine rainforest area and attracts visitors from around the world. Here you will find the Franklin, Gordon and Olga Rivers, Nelson Falls, spectacular mountains and gorges. The Lyell Highway runs for 56 km through the park and is a beautiful drive. There are some short walks you can stop for on your journey and some picnic spots. You can also take a cruise boat from Strahan and view the rainforest from the river.

The adventurous will love to book a white water rafting excursion down the wild waters of the Franklin River. Another place to visit in the park is Kutikina Cave, an Aboriginal site situated south of Frenchmans Cap. There are basic camp sites at Collingwood River or base yourself in Strahan or Queenstown.

The Franklin Gordon NP is in western Tasmania, on the Lyell Highway.
