WILPENA POUND
Lots of bush walks to choose from...

Wilpena Pound is a rock basin in the Flinders National Park and is a bushwalkers' paradise. Information on the walks is available at the entrance to the pound and day visitors need an entry permit. If you are planning to do a long walk you need to sign the log book at the Visitors Centre. The walks are of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty and will lead you to spectacular lookouts, aboriginal rock art, gorges, peaks and waterfalls.

There is an abundance of native wildlife in the area for you to look for along the way as well as Australian flora. Take a drive along the Brachina Gorge Geological Trail north of Wilpena Pound and look for fossils in the rocks. Rawnsley Park Station to the south of the Pound offers a range of accommodation choices, 4WD safaris, horse riding, walking tours and scenic flights. Wilpena Pound Resort also offers accommodation in units, caravans or camping. Bush camping is also permitted in the park.
