VICTOR HARBOR
See the fairy penguins…

One of Victor Harbor's primary attractions is the horse-drawn tram which takes tourists across the causeway to Granite Island. The Island is a haven for fairy penguins and you can book a guided tour to observe them come home to the foreshore at dusk. Another attraction is the Cockle Train, an old steam train which runs in the school holidays from Goolwa to Victor Harbor stopping at Port Elliot. Visit the Victor Harbor National Trust Museum for information on the history of the town and the peninsula.

The Urimbirra Wildlife Park is located 5 km from town and has many species of native animal and birds on display. Visit the South Australian Whale Centre to learn about the southern right whales which travel past on their migration and go up to the Bluff to try to spot them. Waitpinga Beach is a great surfing beach and as an interesting bonus you can observe many kangaroos grazing on the hills in the late afternoon. You can stay in a guesthouse, holiday apartment, motel, cottage, lodge or caravan park.
