PORT AUGUSTA
The outback crossroads…


Port Augusta is the crossroads town of South Australia with major roads heading north to Alice Springs, west to the Nullabor, east to Broken Hill and south to Adelaide. Wadlata Outback Centre has lots of information on historic times, aboriginal history and early settlement. Homestead Park Pioneer Museum is a railway and farming museum. Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden is focussed on preserving the unique flora of the Australian desert.

You can visit the School of the Air to see how outback students are educated and the Royal Flying Doctor Service which is open to the public on weekdays. McLennan Lookout has excellent views across Gulf St Vincent and Water Tower Lookout faces across Spencer Gulf towards the city centre. Port Augusta has a good number of hotels, motels and caravan parks.

Port Augusta is north of Port Pirie and 322 km north of Adelaide.
