Mount Gambier is known for its beautiful Blue Lake which changes colour at different times of the year. There are other crater lakes close together and a number of high vantage points for great views and photographs of the lakes. The Mount Gambier Tourist Information Centre has an Interpretive Centre which displays on the geology and history of the area. Take a conducted tour through Engelbrecht Cave which is underneath the city streets. The Garden of Angels and Birds is an animal and reptile park featuring native wildlife including nocturnal animals.

Mount Schank is an extinct volcano with a walking track to the top and into the crater, which takes about 2 1/2 hours. Umpherston Cave is a lovely place to visit in the evening when the gardens are floodlit. Other attractions to visit are the Apple Farm and Tearooms, Attamurra Cottage and Tarpeena Fairy Tale Park. Tantanoola Cave is 33 km from Mount Gambier and offers tours through the caves to see the excellent displays of columns, shawls and helictites. There is a good supply of accommodation on offer in Mount Gambier including hotels, motels, resorts, apartments, cottages and caravan parks.

Mount Gambier is in the far south east, 439 km from Adelaide, accessible from the Prices Highway.  Mount Gambier is near Canunda National Park.
