KAPUNDA
See an historica copper mining town


Kapunda was an early copper mining town, then the centre of a cattle grazing region. At the entrance to the town is a huge bronze statue of a Cornish miner. Kapunda Museum is interesting for memorabilia and Bagots Fortune Museum has displays of the lives of the early miners. Drive around town following the heritage trail and you will see all the beautiful old historic buildings.

Gundry's Hill Lookout offers excellent views of the town and surrounding countryside. Visit the Mine Lookout and Main Open Cut where there are displays and early photographs dealing with the process of mining. Kapunda has a number of hotels, motels, cottages and a caravan park.

Kapunda is located 79 km north of Adelaide.
