COORONG NP
Pristine wilderness overlooking the ocean…

The Coorong National Park is a conservation area for its lagoons, wetlands, coastal sand dunes, vegetation and wildlife. It is a wonderful place for birdwatchers as it is a breeding ground for many water birds and is visited by numerous migratory birds. Jacks Point has a large breeding colony of pelicans and there is an observatory there . The park can be reached by boat from Goolwa, or boats can be launched via the many boat ramps in the park. Four wheel drive vehicles are permitted on the Southern Ocean beach.

Many walking trails have been developed in the park, making it very popular with bushwalkers. Look for some native animals and reptiles along the way. Fishing is popular on the ocean side of the Younghusband Peninsula and on the inland sea. Windsurfing, canoeing and yachting are enjoyed by those looking for more active sports. Bush camping is permitted in the park at designated camp sites if a permit is obtained. There are caravan Parks located at Policemans Point, Woods Well, Kingston SE and Meningie or camping at Camp Coorong.
