BURRA
A very historical town


Burra is a State Heritage Town due to its significant number of historical buildings indicating what life was like when it was a copper mining town. There are 43 historical sites to explore on the Local Tour Program, for which you need to obtain a Historic Passport. You will see the Burra Mine Site and Powder Magazine, Morphett Enginehouse Museum, Miners Dugouts, Police Lock-up and Stables, Redruth Gaol, Bon Accord Mine Complex and Burra Market Square Museum.

There is also the Burra Regional Art Gallery to visit and many quaint Cornish cottages, some of which are available as accommodation. Take the 'Tombstones by Torchlight' walk or take a drive out to Burra Gorge for a picnic. You can also visit Unicorn Brewery and Thorogoods boutique cider brewery. To stay in Burra, book a motel or bed and breakfast, a farm stay or heritage cottage. There are also caravan parks and camping grounds.
