Surfers Paradise is a hugely popular holiday destination for locals and international tourists of all ages, particularly young people. The annual Indy 300 car race is held in the streets of Surfers Paradise every October. There are a number of golf courses within a short distance, as well as mini-golf and beach volleyball. Beachfront markets are held every Friday night along the Esplanade and specialise in arts and crafts, jewellery, clothes and food.
The newest attraction at Surfers Paradise is the Q1 Tower, the world's tallest residential tower. For a small fee you can take a speed lift to the observation deck for magnificent views of the Gold Coast and hinterland.
