Gateway to Fraser Island!

The town of Rainbow Beach is known as the 'Gateway to Fraser Island' and is named after the coloured sand cliffs near the town. The area is popular with backpackers, campers and fishermen. Cooloola National Park is located nearby and is a great location for bushwalking, camping and birdwatching. Adventurous activities around Rainbow Beach include hang-gliding, para gliding and scenic joy flights. Fraser Island can be reached by a short 10 minute trip on the barge (4WD vehicles only).
