The town of Eulo makes an annual event of the World Lizard Racing Championships. Thargomindah is the site of the Burke & Wills "Dig Tree" and Yowah is a small opal mining town.
Windorah is another place to fossick for opals and is on the road to Birdsville. Travel through Bedourie to Boulia and you might see the legendary Min Min Light. Drive to Barcaldine to see the Australian Workers Heritage Centre and the Barcaldine and District Folk Museum.
