LONGREACH
Rich in outback history!

Longreach is the centre of a prosperous beef and wool area and is the location of the famous Stockman's Hall of Fame. The town was the original base for the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Service (QANTAS). The Qantas Founders Outback Museum, the Powerhouse Museum and Jacksons Weapons Museum provide visitors with an insight into the early history of the region. The Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame uses audio visual techniques for their displays of outback life and this very popular attraction brings many tourists to Longreach.

While in Longreach, take a cruise along the pretty Thomson River or try river fishing. Take a drive to Lochern National Park or Welford National Park, or find Starlight's Lookout for a spectacular view of the outback countryside. Try staying in the local pub accommodation in Longreach or one of the motels, caravan parks or camping. Enjoy the country atmosphere of the local restaurants, cafes and hotels.
