Australia's northern-most island resort...

Lizard Island is Australia's northern-most island resort. It is a National Park with 24 sandy beaches. The highest point is Cook's Look, which is worth the trek to the top for the fabulous views. There are a number of other easy walking trails for bush walkers. Snorkelling and diving are popular activities in the waters around the island, or coral may be viewed from a glass-bottomed boat. Boating, fishing and swimming and also enjoyed but recreational fishing is prohibited in some areas.

The island is accessed by regular flights from Cairns or by tour boats. Lizard Island Resort is a very up-market resort, popular with celebrities because of the isolation of the area. There are also camping facilities on the island, but bring all your own supplies including wood for camp fires. Water and toilets are provided.
