Hayman Island is the closest resort to the Great Barrier Reef, giving guests easy access to view the coral reefs and underwater paradise. There are opportunities for diving excursions, helicopter rides or cruiser trips. Big game fishing is popular from September to November when the black marlin is sought after. The island has a mountainous centre with many walking trails offering spectacular views. An 8 km island circuit walk is a great way to see the island and takes about 2 1/2 hours. Bushwalkers can get a brochure from the resort detailing all the walking tracks.
Free activities for resort guests include swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, paddleskiing, catamaran sailing, outdoor spa, golf putting, badminton and tennis. Guests can also book trips to the reef, seaplane trips, dinghy hire, archery, tidal golf, scuba diving and more. The restaurants at the resort are 5 star quality, as are the accommodation suites and penthouses. Access to the island is by luxury vessel from Hamilton Island or by helicopter or seaplane from Proserpine.
