Hamilton Island is a world class holiday destination featuring coral fringed beaches, a marina, a variety of accommodation choices, about 10 restaurants and village of boutique shops. The Island is 45 minutes by water taxi from Shute Harbour and can be accessed by air as it is the only island in the Whitsundays to have an airport capable of handling wide bodied jet aircraft. Coral viewing activities include going out to the outer reef by helicopter or high-speed catamaran, diving and snorkelling. You can also go sea kayaking, twilight sailing, game fishing or take a scenic flight over the islands.
There are over 20 km of bushwalking trails and over 80 per cent of the island remains in its natural state. The Island has a Relaxation Centre, a chapel for weddings, Hamilton Island Koala Gallery, Gymnasium, sailing courses, aquatic golf driving range, mini-golf, go karts and Catseye Beach for beach sports. Whale watching takes place between July and September. Accommodation includes hotels, resort, apartments, bungalows, self-catering villas and private residences.
