DAINTREE
Experience tropical rainforest!

The township of Daintree is a charming village in the rainforest beside the Daintree River, where the Daintree Ferry takes people and vehicles across to the road to Cape Tribulation. A boat cruise along the river is essential to safely view some crocodiles as well as the tropical birdlife and butterflies. The town was once a logging village and has a Timber Museum with a woodworking shop. The Daintree Rainforest Discovery Centre is across the river and offers information on the rainforest, a treetops walk, walking trails, arts and crafts and a coffee shop.

There is even a 'Big Barramundi' , as well as a General Store and several restaurants. There is a caravan park, two camping grounds, some lodges, cottages, cabins, a youth hostel and a bed and breakfast.

Location
Daintree is 56 km north of Port Douglas, beside the Daintree River. Tours to the Daintree can be organised in Cairns.

Activities
Visit Daintree for a day trip or short holiday. Cruise the river, see the Big Barramundi, the Timber Museum, and The Rainforest Discovery Centre.
