DAINTREE NATIONAL PARK
The oldest living rainforest.

The Daintree National Park, the oldest living rainforest on earth, is divided into three main sections - Mossman Gorge, The Daintree and the Cape Tribulation region. The Mossman Gorge is the southern section and is easily accessible, with many lovely walking trails through the rainforest. The Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal community conduct guided walking tours to explain the sites of aboriginal significance and local aboriginal legends.

There are great swimming holes, abundant wildlife and stunning landscape. To the north is the Daintree River and the tiny township of Daintree. Here you can take a cruise along the river to spot the crocodiles. Daintree is the site of the car ferry which crosses the Daintree River and allows access to the beautiful region to the north.

The Cape Tribulation region of the Daintree NP is a scenic coastal section featuring tropical rainforest, white sandy beaches, mangrove areas and coral reefs. The Daintree Discovery Centre is a great place to learn about the rainforest and local wildlife. There are boardwalks and trails through the forest including a tree top walk. Camping is available at Noah Beach, but it is closed in the wet season.

Accommodation is available at the town of Cape Tribulation, which is a great base from which to explore the National Park. Visitors are warned not to swim in the creeks and rivers due to the likelihood of encountering a crocodile. Marine stingers which are very dangerous are to be found in the sea between October and May when swimming is not recommended.

Location
The Daintree National Park is situated north of Port Douglas and stretches from Mossman Gorge to the Bloomfield River, encompassing the town of Cape Tribulation.
