COOLOOLA NATIONAL PARK
Great for 4 wheel driving!

Cooloola National Park is characterised by coloured sand cliffs, lakes, long, pristine beaches, everglades, rainforests and open heath. The area is very popular for 4 wheel driving, which is permissable along the beaches. The Teewah Coloured Sands have 72 different coloured sands layered in the sandy cliffs. Hang gliding is popular at Carlo Sand Blow where they launch out over Wide Bay. The Cherry Venture Wreck can still be seen on Teewah Beach. It ran aground in 1973. Many walking trails snake through the National Park, both short and long, so it is important to get a map of the walks.

There are a number of sites for bush camping, for which permits are required. Elanda Point has a large camping area in a natural bush setting beside Lake Cootharaba which is ideal for sailing and canoeing. Boat tours through the everglades leave from Noosa. Apart from camping grounds and bush camping, accommodation can be found in Boreen Point, Rainbow Beach, Tewantin, Noosa or in a lakeside cottage.

Location
Cooloola National Park stretches from Rainbow Beach to Tewantin, north of Noosa.
