BRIBIE ISLAND
A peaceful and relaxed Island…

Bribie Island is a fast-growing holiday destination easily accessible by bridge from the mainland. It is popular with daytrippers from Brisbane. It is separated from the mainland by Pumicestone Passage which is an ideal waterway for boating, fishing, sailing and windsurfing. Hire a BBQ fishing boat or a dinghy, take a ferry cruise along the Passage or book a kayak tour. The sheltered side of the island has quiet beaches for family swimming, a jetty, several boat ramps and picnic areas along the foreshore. Surfers will enjoy Woorim Beach on the ocean side. It has life saver patrols for the safety of swimmers.

A large section of Bribie Island is National Park with access roads suitable only for 4WD vehicles. Bush camping is permitted in the park at designated sites with permission of the ranger. There are bushwalking tracks at White Patch, Banksia Beach, Buckley’s Hole Environment Park, Red Beach tracks and the Island Centre.

Hire a bike and follow the bike paths right across the island or try bird watching at First Lagoon. The Island has a number of great seafood restaurants for sampling the local produce. Accommodation choices include resorts, motels, lodges, holiday apartments and several caravan parks.

Bribie Island lies 70 km north of Brisbane, not far from Caloundra.
