Airlie Beach is a great destination for a busy coastal holiday. It is popular with backpackers, families and couples. There are several local beaches for swimming and surfing or you can try sailing around the islands. Take a boat trip to see the migrating whales between July and September or a day trip to visit one of the islands. Other attractions are the Vic Hislop Great White Shark and Whale Expo and the Wildlife Park. Conway National Park to the south has walking trails and beautiful Cedar Creek Falls.

The Whitsunday Fun Race is held every September. Other holiday activities to try are sky diving and horse riding. Airlie Beach is known for it rollicking nightlife and there are plenty of bars and clubs, as well as restaurants, cafes and shops.
