KINGS CANYON

Walk through the amazing Kings Canyon…

Kings Canyon is a huge canyon in the Watarrka National Park. The ranger station is 20 km from the park and gives information on the history of the area, the native flora and fauna and the walking trails. The 1.5 km Creek Walk follows the centre of the canyon to a lookout. The Canyon Walk around the rim is only for fit walkers and takes 3-4 hours. You will see a feature called the 'Lost City', a collection of weathered rock formations, an oasis called the 'Garden of Eden' and spectacular views down the canyon from the top.

Kings Canyon Resort has a campground as well as accommodation in deluxe spa rooms or budget lodge rooms. They can take you on a guided walking tour, a helicopter tour over the canyon or even a camel ride. Kings Creek Station has accommodation in cabins or camping and has a small shop. You can also stay at the Kings Canyon YHA Backpackers on Ernest Giles Road.
