DALY WATERS
Home to a classic Australian outback pub!

The settlement of Daly Waters is an important stopping point for people travelling the Stuart Highway. The Daly Waters Hotel is the main focus of attention in the town. It is a classic outback pub with corrugated iron, bougainvillea plants and inner walls bedecked with an amazing collection of memorabilia. You will see currency, photographs, names, badges, antiques and humorous nicknacks stuck to the walls. The pub has air-conditioned, self-contained motel units for travellers.

Amazingly, Daly Waters was the site of Australia's first international airfield - it was a centre for the London to Sydney air race of 1926. It used to be a WWII air force base and a refuelling stop for Qantas. The old hangar is now an airport museum. While in Daly Waters, try a round of golf, a fishing trip, a barramundi meal at the pub, some bushwalking and camping.

Location
Daly Waters is 620 km south of Darwin and 270 kms south of Katherine, close to the junction of the Carpentaria and the Stuart Highway.

Activities
Have a drink and a feed at the Daly Waters Pub. Enjoy the live entertainment and gaze at the memorabilia all over the walls. Play golf, go fishing or bushwalking.
