DALY RIVER
Catch the mightly Barramundi fish!

The tiny township of Daly River is visited mainly by tourists interested in fishing for barramundi in the Daly River or exploring the Daly River Nature Park. Local industries include agriculture, horticulture and cattle. You can visit the nearby Nauiyu Aboriginal Community and Roman Catholic Mission but drop in to the Nauiyu Council Offices first for permission. Aboriginal artefacts are for sale from the gallery, Merrepen Arts, which holds an art festival in June.

Banyan Farm, on Wooliana Road, is a great tourist park with excellent facilities, catering to the needs of the barra fishermen. There is a boat ramp and boat hire and apart from fishing you can go swimming, birdwatching or crocodile spotting. Fishing tours depart daily from both Banyan Farm and Mango Farm. Other activities to occupy visitors to Daly River include four wheel driving, camping, stargazing, bushwalking and following the local Discovery Trails. Accommodation in Daly River varies from self contained units, cabins and homestead accommodation, to caravan and camping sites on the Daly Riverfront.
