TENTERFIELD
Watch the leaves change colours in autumn...

Tenterfield is a lovely town to visit in autumn when the many deciduous trees are displaying their red and gold leaves. A self-guided heritage walk will show you the historic buildings of the town including the Old Courthouse, Police Station with gaol, the Railway Station and the beautifully built Convent. Visit the Centenary Museum, Art Gallery and the Railway Museum. Another historic location is Thunderbolt's Hideout, 12 km out of town. Also visit Clear Creek Art & Craft Gallery and the local wineries.

Boonoo Boonoo National Park is 22 km from Tenterfield and a walking track leads to Boonoo Boonoo Falls. The spectacular Bald Rock National Park is a must to visit. Bald Rock is the largest exposed granite monolith in Australia and there is an easy 2.5 km trek to the summit. The more adventurous can climb to the top by a more direct route. Sundown National Park offers excellent opportunities for bird watching, bush walking, camping, canoeing and swimming. Motels and caravan parks are the most common forms of accommodation in Tenterfield.
