Come see the 'Big Oyster!'

Taree is a major town on the Mid North Coast of NSW. For those who like big tourist attractions, there is a Big Oyster outside Taree. A cruise on the Manning River is and ideal way to see some of the local landscape. Fotheringham Park is home to the Herb and Sculpture Garden where a range of unusual herbs are planted. Take the heritage walk through the town to see some of the historic buildings. Kiwarrak State Forest is a lovely area for a country drive and includes Breakneck Lookout.

Manning Point is a pleasant seaside resort town nearby, on the principal estuary of the Manning River. It is a great place for surfing, swimming and fishing as well as its excellent oysters. The Ellenborough Falls on Tourist Drive 8 are the second highest single drop falls in the Southern Hemisphere. For accommodation in Taree, try a houseboat on the Manning River or a country retreat. There are a number of caravan parks and motels are plentiful.
