Families enjoy quiet relaxing beach holidays at Nambucca Heads, just fishing, walking, boating, swimming, surfing and sunbathing. The beaches are Main Beach, Shelley Beach and Beilbys Beach. Gordon Park has a walking trail which passing through an arboretum, past a swamp, though coastal forest and a section of rainforest. Rotary Lookout and Captain Cook Lookout provide excellent views of the ocean and beaches and are great spots for whale and dolphin spotting. Visit the Headland Historical Museum and Nambucca Valley Model Railway for an entertaining outing.

The Nambucca River is great for water sports - canoes and kayaks can be hired from several outlets. Take an Aboriginal Cultural Tour of the area or arrange a white-water rafting expedition. There is an art and craft gallery at Valla Beach, which is also the site of the Volkswagen Spectacular. A number of caravan parks cater to families on holiday, or book a holiday house, apartment, motel or resort.
