Visit a sugar cane farming town...

Murwillumbah is the centre of a sugar cane farming area at the foothills of the McPherson Ranges. Some of the many attractions of the local area are the World Heritage Rainforest Centre, Tree Tops Environment Centre, Madura Tea Estates, Condong Sugar Mill and Cudgen Nature Reserve. Cudgen Lake is ideal for canoeing. Experience a day out at 'Tropical Fruit World' which grows over 500 varieties of fruit. Don't miss the Tweed River Regional Art Gallery, home of the richest portrait prize in the world, the Doug Moran National Portraiture Competition.

The town of Mooball is 19 km to the south and here you will find Pioneer Plantation, an attraction which is based around banana growing. Hikers like to take the walking track to the top of Mt Warning but it is only for the very fit. Other areas to visit are Mebbin National Park, Mooball National Park and Nightcap National Park. The pretty village of Uki is worth a visit, and you can picnic at Clarrie Hall Dam. Stay in a local motel or hotel, a farm stay, cottage, resort, rainforest retreat or caravan park.
