Great place for a romantic getaway!

Mittagong is a very pretty place for a weekend getaway for couples, particularly in Spring when the tulips are in flower. The town is known for its arts and crafts, so allow plenty of time to visit all the craft shops and galleries. Bushwalkers will enjoy the scenic walks. There is the 1.2 km Rim Track, connecting four lookouts, or the Boxvale Mine Walking Track is an easy 4.4-km circular walk. Serious bushwalkers can tackle the seven-day Barallier Track to Katoomba, one of Australia's most spectacular walks. Check with the local Information Centre.

Visit the Amber Park Emu and Ostrich Farm to see the animal nursery and take a guided tour of the farm. For those interested in caves, travel 65 km west to explore the beautiful Wombeyan Caves. Don't miss feeding the ducks at Lake Alexandra, 250 metres from Mittagong's main street. There are a number of restaurants and cafes in Mittagong offering great food at affordable prices. Stay in a hotel or motel or book an apartment, villa or guesthouse. There is a caravan park and a bush camping ground.
