Take a ride on the historical Zig Zag Railway!


The industrial town of Lithgow features many historical and scenic attractions both in the town and surrounding district. Take a trip on the delightful Zig Zag Railway, either by steam train or diesel-powered vintage motor and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the mountains. Stroll around the town to look at the heritage buildings, then visit the Small Arms Museum, the Lithgow Valley Colliery, Eskbank House, Blast Furnace Park and the State Mine Heritage Park.

Archvale Trout Farm north of Lithgow offers recreational fishing, fresh trout, BBQ and picnic facilities. Visit Lake Lyell and Lake Wallace for fishing, boating and picnics. There is a glow worm tunnel 30 km from Lithgow through Newnes Plateau, and excellent bushwalking in the Wollemi National Park. Accommodation in Lithgow is offered in the many motels and hotels, as well as cottages, country retreats and the Van Park.
