Katoomba is a great place to stay when exploring the Blue Mountains. It is located near the famous Three Sisters rock feature, so popular with photographers. Start your holiday experience at Echo Point where you can obtain tourist information and enjoy spectacular views of the Three Sisters, Mount Solitary, the Ruined Castle and the vast Jamison Valley. Several walking tracks start at Echo Point. From the cliff edge to the west, take a trip on the steeply inclined Scenic Railway into the valley below where there is a boardwalk and some 12 km walking tracks. Alternatively, take the Scenic Skyway, the aerial cable car across the valley, for views of Katoomba Falls.
Minnie Ha-Ha Falls are at North Katoomba and Bonnie Doon Falls are on Nellies Glen Rd. Cliff Drive East has a range of lookouts, lovely picnic spots and a short walking track to Leura Cascades. The town of Katoomba has many trendy cafes, antique shops, charming hotels, art galleries and craft shops including Aboriginal arts and crafts. Couples will find some wonderfully romantic accommodation choices among the many country retreats, boutique hotels, mountain lodges, guesthouses, hideaways, cottages and cabins.
