Visit the beautiful Hunter Valley, known for its wines, vineyards, horse breeding, lush valleys and friendly country towns. Muswellbrook and Singleton are historic towns with many interesting old buildings. Cessnock has a zoo, art galleries and craft shops. Branxton and Greta are known for their markets and festivals. Also take a drive to Wollombi, Broke and Morpeth to enjoy the wonderful scenery. Scone has a very popular race course and is a thoroughbred horse breeding centre. The local tour companies organise tours to visit the wineries, horse studs, cattle studs and antique shops.

Enquire about local events such as Jazz, Opera or a Symphony in the Vines. Bushwalkers can camp at the Watagan Mountains State Forest, although it is also popular with day-trippers. Also take a trip to Barrington Tops National Park which features Antarctic beech forests, snow gum woodlands and scenic waterfalls. It is a beautiful area for trying a farmstay holiday or country cottage. Other accommodation choices are motels, luxury hotels, caravan parks, apartments and guesthouses.

Location
The Hunter Valley covers the region from the Goulburn River and Wollemi National Park to the South to Barrington Tops National Park in the North.
