HAWKESBURY RIVER
Home to picturesque river scenery...

The beautiful Hawkesbury River region is just a short drive from Sydney, making it the perfect location for a day trip or weekend out of the city. Visit the settlements of Brooklyn, Berowra Waters and Wisemans Ferry and enjoy the picturesque river scenery by taking a cruise or ferry ride or just go fishing in a tinnie. Have lunch at one of the lovely restaurants with waterfront views. Take the four ferries drive from Wisemans Ferry to Windsor, crossing the Hawkesbury four times via the car ferries. You will pass through the townships of St Albans, Lower Portland and Ebenezer and you can stop to see the Aboriginal engravings at Cattai. The St Albans Folk Festival is held every Anzac weekend.

There are a number of national parks in the Hawkesbury region, including Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Brisbane Water National Park, Marramarra National Park and Muogamarra Nature Reserve. Themed guided walks are offered so that visitors can learn about local aboriginal culture, history of European settlement and native flora and fauna. Visit the historic hamlets of Galston and Dural and look through the antique and craft shops and galleries. Book your accommodation in a fully catered boutique guesthouse, a luxury houseboat, a country retreat, riverfront apartment, cottage or holiday park.
