A significant feature of the beautiful city of Grafton is the Jacaranda trees lining the streets and a Jacaranda Festival is held in October when the trees are flowering. Discover the Clarence River Gorge, see the Rainbow Falls and enjoy fishing and bush walking. Explore the Clarence River by taking a River Cruise and also take a scenic drive out to some of the nearby National Parks including Yuraygir and Bundjalung. Visit the Tourist Information Centre and find out about the Grafton Heritage Walk and tours of a sugarcane farm, a dairy farm and Tooheys brewery. The Schaeffer House Museum and the Grafton Regional Gallery are other points of interest.
Freshwater fishing is very popular in the Clarence River and Australian Bass may be caught in the upper reaches. A Fishing Licence is required. Salt and freshwater fish may be caught in the river at Grafton, at different times. Rowing and water skiing are also popular in the river, and white-water rafting at Nymboida. There is a golf course in South Grafton and a local Gliding Club. Annual events include Artsfest, Bridge to Bridge Ski Race and the July Horse Racing Carnival.
