Dubbo's most popular tourist attraction is the Western Plains Zoo. It is a huge open-range zoo and takes two days to see it all. (A one-day admission allows free entry on the second day.) While holidaying in Dubbo don't miss visiting the Dubbo Observatory and the Military Museum. The Old Dubbo Gaol is now a museum. Visit a historic homestead, take a Macquarie River Cruise or take a heritage walk through the city. The Dubbo Regional Gallery is opposite Victoria Park or visit the Claypan Gallery for displays of local art and crafts and aboriginal art.

Jedda Boomerangs make, demonstrate and sell boomerangs. Similarly, at Indidjinart Aboriginal Art & Craft Studio and Workshop you can watch the traditional craft of didjeridu making. For those who enjoy visiting wineries, there are a number of them located in the Dubbo surrounds. Accommodation is plentiful in this country city of 38000 residents. Choose from country hotels, motels, lodges, hostels, farmstays, caravan parks and camping.

Dubbo is right in the centre of NSW, on the Newell Highway.
